Tradable mobility permits in a monocentric city with pre-existing labor taxation: A general equilibrium perspective

چکیده
This paper studies tradable mobility permit schemes in a monocentric city with distorting labor tax, considering spatially differentiated allocations of permits to households. Numerical results show that an allocation proportional supply reaches about 99.9% first-best welfare, clearly outperforming scheme lump-sum permits, and being more efficient than the second-best tax for levels 20% or higher. is due welfare gains incentivizing supply, which has effect similar revenue recycling conventional road pricing, can be optimized by social planner exploiting spatial differences. Other alternatives, such as distance from CBD cordon-based do not reach those high efficiency. Our provide insights into efficiency driving alternative pricing tackle present externalities, showing differentiation powerful instrument hands regulator. • We study effects general equilibrium. Schemes interact pre-existing distortions market. Spatial key determinant welfare. Allocation related most scheme. For higher taxes, other lose their potential raise

Taxation and Risk Taking: a General Equilibrium Perspective
Taxation and risk taking are examined in a general equilibrium mode/ that incorporates uncertain government revenue and allows the government to influence risk through portfolio investments as well as through tax r policy. It is demonstra ted that each of a wide range of taxes can be decomposed into some combina tion of a wage tax, an ex ante wealth tax, and a modification of the government’s i...
متن کاملLabor Taxation in Search Equilibrium with Home Production
Conventional models of equilibrium unemployment typically imply that proportional taxes on labor earnings are neutral with respect to unemployment as long as the tax does not affect the replacement rate provided by unemployment insurance, i.e., unemployment benefits relative to after-tax earnings. When home production is an option, the conventional results may no longer hold. This paper uses a ...
متن کاملDynamic Labor Market in a Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium Model: Case Study of Iranian Economy
The labor market, as one of the four markets, plays an important role in economic growth and development. So review developments in the labor market because of its close relationship with developments in other sectors is of great importance. This study tries to examine the dynamics of the labor market by adjusting for a New Keynesian dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model for the Iranian ...

In this paper we examine an alternative policy scenario, where governments allow polluting rms to trade permits in a strategic environmental policy model. We demonstrate, among other things, that with no market power in the permits market, governments of the exporting rms do not have an incentive to under-regulate pollution in order to become more competitive. This strategic e¤ect is reversed...
